UCLA's Kyle Anderson Cleared By NCAA

Oct 31, 2012 7:56 PM

Kyle Anderson has been cleared by the NCAA to play for UCLA.

"I know there were rumors about my family receiving stuff," Kyle Anderson Sr. told USA TODAY Sports in a telephone interview. "I actually moved out of my apartment and live with one of my fraternity brothers so I can save money so I can travel to see Kyle play. For all the rumors that said I received $250,000, ... I am a 50-year-old roommate."

Anderson Sr., also his son's summer league coach, said "anyone who knows this business knows I don't have to shop Kyle around. The vultures are going to come get him. I have a very unique position that the vultures — be it the college coaches or the agents — all know that I am in this business, so there is no reason to bombard me with phone calls because all my ducks are in line."

UCLA's Josh Smith Aims To Trim To 10 Percent Body Fat

Oct 8, 2012 9:49 AM

Josh Smith came back to UCLA a few pounds lighter, down from 25 percent body fat to 17 percent.

"I'm trying to get down to 10 percent," Smith said.

Smith said poor eating habits, including a habit of skipping breakfast, contributed to his lackluster sophomore season.

"By the time I got home at six or seven o'clock, I'm starving," Smith said of his lopsided eating schedule. "Then it's boom, boom, boom."

Smith can feel the clock ticking on his college basketball career.

"It's weird that it finally started getting in my head now," he said. "I'm like, 'OK, maybe I shouldn't eat this.' Or, 'Maybe I should go to the gym tonight and not just lounge around.'"
